One of my favorite kind of stories where magic is involved. And recently a book was brought to my attention that has a combination of magic, evil government and tons of action. I was sent a book called The Traitor’s Crux by Jessica Prather this week and was excited to start it because I thought this story was something I knew I would be into.
BOOK SYNOPSIS:
In The Traitors’ Crux, we meet a girl named Kanadee who lives in a world where those with magic are seen as the enemy. They targeted and then arrested and sent away. And Kenadee’s brother has arrested years ago prior to the book and never seen from again. Years later Kenadee gets arrested and then recruited by the President. Kenadee must work for the president and infiltrate a secret camp where those with magic are and bring them in. If she doesn’t, her family will get killed. Kenadee agrees and then goes deep undercover. Soon, Kenadee learns about the world of magic and discovers that this world is more than it seems. And Kenadee also must learn to use the magic within her and make hard choices that can send a ripple effect on those that are in the way.
BOOK REVIEW:
This book was enjoyable and was fun to read. I actually couldn’t put it down because all I wanted to do was keep reading. The book was fast-paced and brought me into this world of magic and the idea of making hard choices. I also liked the writing style how the author made a book that feels relevant to today’s climate and a book that makes you think.
As for the characters, I really liked Kenadee and felt sympathetic to her situation. She is forced into a situation and must choose between saving her family and hurting people who are part of a war that they didn’t choose to be in. Other than this Kenadee also must learn to believe in herself and her strength and deal with finding who she is.
Overall, I liked The Traitor’s Crux and enjoyed the action and the magic system in the book. I also really liked Kenadee and I would like to see how she grows throughout the series. And so until my next book review keeps on reading.
