Top Books of 2017

It’s finally the end of the year. This year I had the opportunity to read many great books and discovered new authors that now would be some of my favorites. As well, there here was actually a good year for reading and me actually most of what I read. From sequel that did live up to my expectations and the return of author that finally came out with a book. So, in this post, I will be talking about my top books of 2017.

The Video

BOOK 1: Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo

I know this cheating for putting two books in this category but Six of Crows was amazing. This duolgy gave me a taste of the Grishaverse but also awesome characters that make you want to learn more about them. If you are interested in books where a group of misfits comes together to go on a heist than this is a book for you.

BOOK 2: Wayfarer by Alexandra Bracken

This is was one of the books that I read at the beginning of the year and just fell in love with this time-travel book. When I read the first book in the Passenger duology, it becomes one of my favorites of 2016. From the beautiful cover to the world of time-travel within the book. But with Wayfarer I felt it stepped up the game and brought me a great sequel to the world.

Book 3: The Black Witch by Laurie Forest

I actually was sad to see this book not getting the love it should’ve because when I read it I thought it was amazing. I loved this magical world and enjoyed the world that Laurie Forest built. I also like the fact that the book covered many hidden messages and was right for the current times we live it.

Book 4: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

I actually was looking forward this book all year after reading A Court of Mist and Fury. And Sarah J. Maas didn’t disappoint me in any way and in fact, now she is one of my newest favorite authors. I love the way the book was crafted and the action and world of the fae.

BOOK 5: The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken

At first, I wasn’t sure about the book but when I read I knew it was an immediate love. This book was both dark but also light-hearted. I also liked the relationship between the characters and Halloween feel.

BOOK 6: Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

This book blew me away. I love the world of Shadowhunters and I think Cassandra Clare really stepped up within every book she writes because this world keeps getting better.

BOOK 7: The last Magicians by Liza Maxwell

This was another of my favorites because it was a fresh take on time-travel and throws in fantasy and magic into one book. I also thought it reminded me of the Prestige, and Now You See Me with a little of The Steampunk Chronicles.

BOOK 8: Warcross by Marie Lu

I have been meaning to read a book by Marie Lu. I never read her other books and after seeing her at the National Book Festival I wanted to read this book. This book was fun and different. The book also made me want to play a virtual reality game and see what happens.

BOOK 9: Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton

Another sequel that I read this year. I actual marathon both Rebel of the Sands and Traitor to the Throne because I enjoyed it so much. I actually been wanting to read something very Aladdin and got what I wanted. It was fun, romantic and just a splash of magic.

BOOK 10: York by Laura Ruby

Lastly, York was another of my favorites. I thought the book threw me into the world of ciphers, and clues. I am a big fan of Dan Brown books and wanted a book where characters use clues to find out the story behind a mystery. This book also mixes elements of steampunk as well.
