Blood Rose by Danielle Rose

It’s been a really long time since I got to read a vampire book. Now and again I would read a book that has vampires in it but I wouldn’t really consider it a vampire book. Last time I read a vampire book was Ghost Town by Rachel Caine which is from The Morganville Vampires series. So, recently I was in the mood and was sent Blood Rose to review and had a feeling that this would catch my interest. Blood Rose is the first in the trilogy by Danielle Rose.

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

There is a war going on. A war against witches and vampires. Witches risk their lives protecting the world from vampires who they were believed to want to destroy. At least that is what Avah has been told for most of her life. Avah has devoted her life to a witch to fighting vampires and she spent most of it preparing the day that would change everything. It was grained in her being that she was the chosen one for the prophecy that was said to lead the war against vampires and to destroy all of them. Avah was ready until the night of her ceremony.

BOOK REVIEW:

I actually saw the book on Booktube and thought it would be a really interesting book and I also didn’t know it was about vampires. I thought it was mostly going to be about witches. But that said I actually really enjoyed this book. I like all the action fighting scenes and enjoyed that this was a book mostly focused on both witches and vampires. I mean when was the last time I read a book about a witch part vampire? A vampire that can fight and use magic isn’t something I really a lot. I also liked the writing style and the pace of the story which was fast, ongoing and didn’t me want to slow down.

As for the characters themselves, I liked Avah. I thought she was a total bad ass and I liked reading about a strong female who can fight and kick butt. Makes me think of Buffy who also can fight vampires. But with the added magic in the mix to go with it. I also enjoyed her dedication to her coven but also the vampires she meets through the story.

I really like the story, but there were some things I wished could’ve been developed a bit more. Mostly, one the supporting characters in the book. I feel like they disappear a lot and somethings don’t get explained like the way the characters act around Avah. Something displays a dislike but you don’t really get a full explanation on why or where they are going with it. I also would’ve to see more fighting scenes with all the supporting characters together.

Overall, I really like the book. I had a lot of fun read Blood Rose and can’t wait to continue on this story because of the enjoyment. I also like how the idea of a witch turned vampire was fresh and new. I totally recommend this to anyone who likes witches or vampires or just urban fantasy altogether. So until my next book review keep on reading.
