Synopsis:

The Martian was a book I been wanting to read all year and also been recommended from many people. I also see it on Goodreads, Barnes and Noble and also been hearing how great the book it is. So I decided to finally pick it up. I got to tell you I enjoyed the book and I know anyone who reads will agree with me. The Martian is a debut science fiction novel by Andy Weir. The book takes place in space when an astronaut goes on a mission to Mars. On Mars, everything seems to go well until a solar storm hits which force the astronauts to retreat and leave the planet. Luckily everyone made it out ok….but except an astronaut named Mark Watney who gets left behind. Mark Watney didn’t think this would happen in his lifetime. Mark being stuck and alone on Mars is left to try to do whatever it takes to survive till the next space mission arrives. With his smarts and knowledge of botany and engineering, he is kept alive. Back on Earth, NASA finds out Mark Watney is still alive and must scramble to find a way to get Mark home. From late nights and dealing with the press. They also must deal with the ticking clock of Mark’s life. Will they get him home before he starves?

Review:

I loved this book. This got to be the best book I read all year so far. The book is filled with action, suspense, and good laughs. The book’s main character Mark teaches what is the meaning of survival. It also amazes me how Mark can be one of the most determined characters in the book. Despite his ups and downs he can keep on laughing or find a new light out of the dark moments. I also thought the other characters can also bring up funny lines. I am glad to have been recommended The Martian.

For anyone that hasn’t read The Martian, I do recommend picking it up. Plus, I actually heard it was going to be a movie online and so it gives you plenty of time to get ready. So now I going to go learn more about astronomy and as always keep on reading.
