Firelight by Sophie Jordan Book Review

Firelight by Sophie Jordan

It’s time for another book review for the week. Last week, I had a read-a-thon from #AYEARATHON on Goodreads. One of the books I read was called Firelight by Sophie Jordan. This was a book I read like two years ago and wanted to get back into the series. I also had been hearing a lot about Sophie Jordan and her work so I decided to pick this book again. And I actually enjoyed the book the second time around.

The book Firelight by Sophie Jordan is the first book in the Firelight Trilogy. The book is centers around a 16 year old girl named Jacinda who happens to be part of a race called Draki. Draki are a modern day decedent of dragons. And Jacinda happens to be only fire breather in her pride which puts her at risk of being used by her pride. After Jacinda ends up getting in trouble over a stunt her mom fears for her life and decides to leave the pride along with Jacinda and her twin daughter Tamra.

Jacinda ends up living in the desert town and forced to live a normal life as a regular human. Jacinda is not happy and wishes to go back to her pride and to keep her Draki from dying. In the story she goes to school and meets a boy named Will. Jacinda learns that Will is the key to keeping her Draki abilities from dying and she vows to find a way to get close. But at the same time Jacinda learns Will’s dark secret and the secret of his family’s hobby that could lead to danger. Will’s secret could also lead to the destruction of Jacinda’s pride and world.

During the story Jacinda struggles with the challenge to stay true to herself in world where she isn’t allowed to be her. Jacinda tries to keep her Draki alive but also tries to fit in the human environment and fights her family who won’t except her for who she is.

This book was my first taste of what Sophie Jordan has to offer and I was very intrigued. I also loved more than years ago and it was worth reading an entire day.  I was also excited to read it because I am a fan of dragons. I can wait to catch the next book called Vanish which is called. If you find the book interesting and want to check it out the link is below. Until my next review keep on reading.
