How many of you could use a great mystery? Well recently I finished a great book my last read-a-thon I took part in. The book I read was Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. This is the first book in the Robert Langdon series. For those that didn’t know yet by now Dan Brown is also the author his other book The Da Vinci Code. Both Angels and Demon and The Da Vinci Code were made into a movie that stars Tom Hanks. For those that haven’t seen the trailers check it out in the video on the right. An unknown fact that even through The Da Vinci CodeAngels & Demons, Angels & Demons was actually the first book in the series. Interesting huh? Anyway let’s get on to the details of the great book.
The book Angels & Demons is about a mystery takes place after a murder has occurred at a prestigious institute called CERN. This murder is not like anyone ever seen and there only one person that was superb enough help solve this case except the great historian Robert Langdon, a man who is both a historian and an expert in the arts. At the CERN institute in Geneva, Switzerland Robert Langdon meets Vittoria and the head director. After inspecting the murder of a scientist, Langdon discovers a symbol. This symbol is the act of the ancient anti-religious cult the Illuminati. Who have a sinister plot to use an anti-matter invention that the scientist and his daughter Vittoria created to destroy the Vatican and they also kidnapped four of the cardinals. That’s not the best part. The best part is that Langdon and Vittoria have only till midnight to find the serial killer before anti-matter explosive sets off. Will they save the day? Read the book and find out.
This book was intriguing and page turning. I never read a book that made me want to read till two in the morning. Reading this fast pace story made me want to visit Rome and see the Sistine chapel and explore all the churches. This story also has a combination of art, mystery, and science and religion. There was also times where I wanted to know what was fiction and nonfiction as well.
